Today we are throwing it back to the summer of 2019 when we threw our little one a Honey Bee themed first birthday party! This party was so much fun to plan and put together and I am excited to share all the little details with you all so you can throw the perfect party for your babes!

I wanted this party to not look ‘cartoon-ish’ it was important to me to make sure it had a sophisticated and modern look. Balloon arches are all the rage these days so I decided to give one a shot. Let me just tell you, they look harder than they actually are but they are TIME CONSUMING. BUT it made the perfect statement piece. One thing we found that helped cut down a lot of time was using an air compressor to fill the balloons up instead of us having to blow up over 100 balloons. You can buy an actual balloon pump like this one on Amazon if you don’t have an air compressor. I also found it helpful to use a balloon arch kit to ensure I had all the right supplies and enough sizes of balloons for the arch. Since there wasn’t a kit with all the colors I wanted to use I bought a few extra packs of other balloons to add to it. I do think it is super important to have different sizes and types of balloons to add to your arch. Once we blew up all the balloons, we started randomly attaching them to the strip that came with the balloon arch kit I purchased. I only had a handful of really large balloons so I tired to space those out at first then just filled all the empty space up with the other balloons we had. Hanging up the balloon arch was also a challenge but using fishing line and tape did the job just fine for the party!

To display the cupcakes for the guests I bought hexagon shelves from Hobby Lobby. I wanted this to resemble honeycomb. One frame had three different hexagon shelves attached together so I just had to buy three different shelving units. I used glue dots to connect the shelves together in the ‘honeycomb’ configuration I wanted.

For the tables we had set up for the guest to eat their food at I had a vase of flowers and the party favors sitting on top. For the party favors I put together a handful of honey sticks and a mini honey stirrer stick with a cute little tag all tied together. I also scattered HoneyComb Cereal and Bit o’ Honey’s on the table.

We had our party in the afternoon so I didn’t want to do a big lunch or dinner. Instead, I had Texas Roadhouse Rolls with their famous honey butter and honey glazed ham. We also had a fruit and veggie tray.

For dessert we had honeycomb and beehive shaped sugar cookies, lemon bars and cupcakes!

And of course, the smash cake! I had a local baker make me this cake that was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest. Let’s just say I was not disappointed. It looked so gorgeous and was the perfect addition to our dessert table.

I was so impressed with how this party turned out! It all came together perfectly. We had such a wonderful day celebrating our little girl! She loved her party so much. Her favorite gift she received was her Wee Baby Stella baby doll. This was her first baby doll so I wasn’t sure if she would like it very much but as soon as she opened it, her whole being lit up and she got so excited! It made this newly pregnant mama’s heart burst! I started crying because of how cute she was being with her little baby doll! (Blaming it all on pregnancy hormones!) She now sleeps with it every night and is starting to play “house” with her doll. It is the cutest thing seeing her try to swaddle her baby and put her baby to sleep! She’s going to be such a great big sis!

xoxo
